Just a little something that I would like to share with you all. This is a group photograph (with myself included) of my lunchtime muses, fellow students whose company I enjoy while I sip my coffee and debate the nature “why we do what we do”. These are some of the great minds I have the pleasure to work side by side with everyday in LUSAD; and I am a much better artists because of them.
Continuing with my Nineteen-Eighty Four themed aural project, I bring you this piece entitled “Destruction Of Words”. The idea behind this track is focused around Orwell’s conception of ‘newspeak’; the official language of the Oceanian state. Ingsoc, the oppressive regime that dominated every aspect of life within the state, slowly began to bastardize the traditional english language but cutting it down and reducing the number of words - quite literally destroying the words. The overall aim was to make any resistance to the party impossible, as there will be no words to express the concept.
The track was recorded with a Korg synth played through a 120 watt amplifier. My aim was to try and create a somewhat chaotic, oppressive and droning noise; representative of what Ingsoc were doing.
Notice: This piece is heavily distorted so you may want to turn your speakers down.
